“Iraqi Christians have revealed the presence of Jewish groups which specialize in operations for killing or expelling Christians from Iraq unless they convert to the Jewish religion. One Christian family said that Jewish groups are pressing toward converting Christian families to the Jewish religion in return for getting support and protection from the dangers that that the Christian minority has been exposed to, for not a short while…”

…MEMRI wryly adds that “of the 150,000-strong, vibrant Jewish community that lived in Iraq for 2500 years there remain about 7 elderly individuals.”

So Islamic radicals kill and terrorize Christians (espeically young women) and then blame it all on the Jooooos…

A minor correction. That figure of 7 elderly individuals refers only to the Jewish population of Baghdad, but I think the message is clear. The ancient Jewish community of Iraq, which began in the days after the defeat of the Kingdom of Judah by the Babylonians in the 6th century B.C.E., is no more. It predated Christianity by 600 years and Islam by well over 1000 years, and it remained a large and vibrant community until the middle of the 20th century. The notion that Jewish gangs would be “forcibly converting Christians” anywhere in the world is preposterous enough. The idea that it could happen in Iraq, where Jews are essentially extinct, is just another crazy conspiracy theory/blood libel. It would not be surprising if it is believed by enough people that it will be used to incite violence against Israel or against Jews in general. Fortunately, there will be no more “Farhud”s against the Jews of Iraq. Most of the Iraqi Jews are now in Israel, where they are safe.

This has some interesting parallels to the claim that the Jews of the Arab nations left because ‘Zionists’ carried out terror attacks to sucker them into thinking they had to move. (This not only ignores the actual history of what actually happened, it makes the Mizrahim look pretty nervous and gullible.)

It also taints the Christians with the suspicion that they are now crypto-Jews, which, of course, makes them a threat.

And it dispenses with any responsibility for what’s happening to the Christian communities now. They’re not disappearing because of persecution at home, they’re disappearing because either the Jews got ‘em, or because they are now Jews.
